Child abuse lawyer Peter Garsden picked up the Lawyer of the Year award at the QualitySolicitors network annual conference in Manchester.
Peter leads a team of some of the most highly respected child abuse lawyers in the country. His firm has won a number of awards for the care and empathy they show their clients and in addition he has devoted the last 20 years of his career to support clients and undertakes pro bono work supporting many charities.
Not only is he passionate about securing the right result for his clients, the firm recognises the levels of compassion and care they must show their clients due to the extreme sensitive nature of this area of law. Peter has founded the Association of Child Abuse Lawyers, been the lead Solicitor in over 25 different group actions involving over 1000 victims of abuse and supported clients through devastating times of their lives.
On top of all of this, Peter has been, together with his wife, the foster parents of 25 children over the last 7 years.
Simpson Millar (incorporating Abney Garsden solicitors) is part of a network of 100 law firms across the UK where solicitors are local, approachable and professional – all of them meeting rigorous quality standards to be part of the network.
Eddie Ross, QualitySolicitors Chief Executive said:
“I am so proud to be able to present this award. The QualitySolicitors network is bound together by a commitment to putting customers first and providing expert legal advice and services in an accessible way. The standard is high but we are always looking for ways to improve still further. Peter clearly demonstrated to the judging panel that they are going the extra mile and deserve this recognition.”
Peter Garsden of Simpson Millar said: “It was quite a shock, but nonetheless a great honour, to win such a prestigious award amongst firms nationwide in a category, which was fiercely contested. It reflects our high standards of work in what is a difficult area of law, but where the rewards are high for effort put in.”
