A Southwark Social Services former youth leader has been convicted of further offences of child abuse at Woolwich Crown Court. Convicted of 7 counts of child abuse, he was later sentenced to eleven years. John Desmond Adler had faced an earlier trial last year when he was found guilty of 3 other counts of child abuse.
Adler, now 75, worked as a programme leader of a bike scrambling workshop on the Aylesbury estate in South East London during the 1980s. The abuse first came to light when one of his victims made a complaint to Police in 2012.
This story follows an earlier appeal by abuse lawyer, Deborah Corcoran, who is representing one of Adler’s victims in civil action against Southwark Social Services.
