
At the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse hearing on Pocock Street in London, in the course of the Accounts & Reparations Module, lawyers on behalf of Nugent Care Society and the Home Office made an apology publicly to all victims of abuse at the home under investigation namely St. Aidan’s, in Widnes. Nugent Care also invited any survivors who wanted a personal meeting with the head of Trustees Father Michael Fitzsimons to approach him so that he could listen to their experiences and offer a personal and organisational apology.

Whilst the Inquiry was only dealing with St. Vincent’s in Formby, the apology also extended to the other Children’s Homes in the Group Actions run by Simpson Millar, formerly Abney Garsden McDonald, namely, St. Vincent’s and St. George’s in Southport. See also our Group Action page
