One of the UK’s leading experts on child abuse, Stockport based Peter Garsden has been recognised for his contribution to Greater Manchester by featuring in Manchester’s 250 Most Influential People publication.
The guide has been compiled by the Manchester Evening News and serves as a celebration of those who make a real difference to life in Greater Manchester.
Mr Garsden, who has specialised in abuse cases for the last 19 years, said: “When I discovered that I had been selected as one of the 250 most influential people in Manchester, I was at the same time flattered and amazed. I believe very passionately in what I do, and enjoy achieving better legal rights for those who have been abused in childhood. It is that which drives me, rather than getting myself into lists with others far more famous than I am, such as local footballers. It is very rewarding, however, to think that what I do is recognised by others, and that my hard work is appreciated.”
In March this year Peter won the Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year award at the 2013 Manchester Legal Awards, where his firm Cheadle Hulme based Simpson Millar were also named Small Law Firm of the Year.”
