IPSCAN, the International Society for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect who work in collaboration with BASPCAN the British Association for the Study and Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect recently held their 16th International conference at York University.
The aim of the conference was to play a significant role in informing professionals on the future shape of services and provide these professionals with the skills and knowledge base necessary to protect vulnerable children throughout the world.
Keynote speakers included Beverley Hughes MP whose presentation was entitled Safeguarding Children: Everyone’s Responsibility and Phillip Noyes (Director of Public Policy at the NSPCC) who spoke about how we can create public responsibility to prevent child abuse.
Abney Garsden McDonald took the opportunity to attend this highly regarded event taking an exhibition stand along with other organisations such as Barnardos, NSPCC and Save the Children. The conference, which ran from 3rd to 6th September, was considered to be the most prestigious event addressing the protection of children to occur in the UK for many years.
